The Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver's GMT SPB381 is a tribute to Seiko's legacy of innovation in high intensity timekeeping. Designed for adventure enthusiasts, this model reinterprets the landmark 1968 diver’s watch with Seiko’s first mechanical GMT movement, caliber 6R54. This 24-jewel automatic movement, offering a 72-hour power reserve, operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and includes manual winding capability. The independently adjustable GMT hand allows for a second time zone reading without disrupting the primary time display.
The watch features a Made in Japan green ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel and a green dial with a date calendar, gold GMT hand, and large LumiBrite markers for enhanced legibility. Its stainless steel case with super hard coating, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and screw down crown and caseback ensure durability and water resistance up to 200 meters, adhering to ISO standards for scuba diving. The new three link bracelet, with a trifold push button release clasp and secure lock extender, provides a comfortable and secure fit.
Seiko has continuously advanced its Prospex line since introducing its first diver's watch in 1965, enhancing safety, reliability, and usability. The 6R54 movement, featured in this model, extends the power reserve to 72 hours. This new movement is showcased in modern reinterpretations of the 1968 classic, designed for diving and equipped with 200 meter water resistance. Reflecting its heritage, the watch combines traditional design with modern specifications, including a mirror finished case and an easily controlled rotating bezel. The stainless steel bracelet's slim profile ensures a secure and comfortable fit on the wrist.
