Grand Seiko Evolution 9 "Lake Suwa" Spring Drive – SLGA021

Grand Seiko’s SLGA021 is part of the Evolution 9 Collection and is housed in a 40mm stainless steel case that is a slim 11.8mm thin and 47.9mm lug to lug, with a curved sapphire crystal and screw down crown providing 100m of water resistance. This watch is powered by one of Grand Seiko’s best and newest Spring Drive movements, the Caliber 9RA2, assembled by the skilled artisans of the Shinshu Watch Studio and engineered to run 120 hours (5 days) when fully wound. This caliber provides an astonishing accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per month (+/- 0.5 seconds per day!) and its exquisite finishing is visible behind a sapphire case back, which also showcases a subtle power reserve indicator.

Grand Seiko is known for intricate dials and incredible casework utilizing Zaratsu polishing to create a mirror finish. The case of this watch uses the Evolution 9 Style, which expresses Grand Seiko’s new design language and will be an important part of their signature for years to come. With its complex faceted case, highly legible hands, and prominent markers, it provides ergonomic proportions for its distortion-free finish. The dial texture and color are inspired by the gently lapping waters of Lake Suwa, a dark blue that changes hue as the light hits it. This Grand Seiko comes on a five-link polished and satin finished bracelet with a three-fold clasp and two half links to finely adjust the fit.
