The Atelier Wen Ancestra 蛟 (Jiāo) Limited Edition is a stunning tribute to Chinese mythology and artistry, reimagined through the lens of modern horology. This 38mm masterpiece is the first in Atelier Wen’s new ANCESTRA series, inspired by the ancient jade dragons of the Hongshan culture—the earliest known depictions of dragons. The case, made of high-grade 904L stainless steel, features fluid, detached lugs that echo the sinuous forms of these mythical creatures, engraved with traditional huí wén motifs and finished with contrasting brushed and polished surfaces.

At its heart is a finely tuned movement: a heavily customized Pequignet Caliber EPM03, offering 65 hours of power reserve, chronometer-grade accuracy, and a beautifully decorated three-quarter bridge engraved with lines from the classical Chinese text Tianwen (Questions to Heaven). A skeletonized 5N rose gold-plated rotor enhances visibility through the sapphire caseback.

The real star, however, is the grand feu enamel dial—crafted over 20 meticulous days by China’s most respected enamel workshop, Kong Lingjun’s atelier. The hand-hammered, fumé enamel transitions from pale silver to deep cobalt, echoing the ocean depths where dragons once dwelled. Diamond hour markers alternate with custom calligraphy by Hong Kong artist Elaine Wong, while a unique handset adds dimensional depth.
