Seiko Astron Kojima Productions Limited Edition GPS Solar – SSH097

The Seiko SSH097 is a collaboration with Kojima Productions. Kojima productions is a video game studio in Japan. Their first game, Death Stranding, received the title of PC game of the year at the Golden Joystick Awards in 202, considered the biggest award in the industry. Seiko decided to celebrate this independent company with a limited edition of 1,000 pieces, Astron which is a leader in accurate timekeeping. By using GPS technology the watch is able to maintain the highest level of accuracy at 1 second over 100,000 years.

The emblematic figure of the Kojima Productions game is Ludens (player in Latin). The warrior wears a special armor that is used as inspiration in this watch. The carbon fiber pattern of the dial resembles Luden’s mask while the gold accessories are the colors of his armor, and the sub dial features the Ludens logo. The bezel also has signs of the collaboration. The fond of the UTC codes are the same as the Kojima Productions Logo and the studios motto “From Sapiens to Ludens” appears at 6 o’clock. The metal bracelet is made of titanium, and the color of the super hard coating is identical to the armor warn by the figure.

“Astron” is powered by a new GPS solar movement. Created for enhanced reception of solar signals allows for greater freedom in design. The watch will connect automatically up to twice a day* to the GPS network to maintain its precision of one second every 100,000 years.

*When the dial detects sunlight, the watch will connect to the GPS satellite network and adjusts automatically to the correct time. When light is not detected the watch remembers the last successful manual connection and attempts to receive the GPS signal again at that same time.
