Grand Seiko Elegance Stem Winding – SBGW259

Released in 2020 as part of the permanent Grand Seiko collection, the SBGW285 marks 60 years since the release of the first Grand Seiko timepiece in 1960. It is a faithful re-creation of the original (albeit sized at 38mm in a nod to modern tastes), with a softly curved dial and a case in Brilliant Hard Titanium, a Grand Seiko exclusive, twice as hard as stainless steel, making it highly scratch resistant. Its color is brighter than other forms of titanium used by Grand Seiko, allowing the Zaratsu polishing to stand out prominently.

Part of the Elegance Collection, the case is 38mm in diameter, 45.7mm lug to lug, a slim 10.9mm height, with a box shaped sapphire crystal and push down crown. Grand Seiko equips this heritage re-issue with a smooth hand winding movement, the Caliber 9S64, with 72 hours of power reserve and an accuracy rating of +5 / -3 seconds per day. This hand assembled and adjusted movement is visible behind a sapphire case back.

In addition to casework, Grand Seiko is known for incredible dials. This special watch dazzles with a bewitching blue that shows off the razor-sharp dauphine hands and indices. The SBGW285 comes on a 19mm crocodile strap with a push-button deployant clasp.
