Bremont Adds Jumping Hour Offerings to its Terra Nova Line

Bremont has been making waves in the luxury timepiece market with its robust, military and aviation inspired designs. Two of its latest models feature the rarely implemented jumping hour complication, the Terra Nova Jumping Hour Bronze Limited Edition Automatic TN38-JH-BZ-CC-B and the Terra Nova 40.5 Jumping Hour Automatic TN40-JH-SS-BK-B. The style of the TN38 bronze model is reminiscent of early 20th century trench watches, merging vintage military style with contemporary design elements while the TN40 stainless steel version has a cleaner, more elegant approach to the jumping hour complication.

Limited Edition Bronze Jumping Hour

The TN38 / Bronze edition is limited to just 100 pieces and has a 38mm Cupro-Aluminum Bronze case. Its bronze color creates a rich, warm tone and adds a unique character that evolves over time, developing a unique patina. Cupro-Aluminum Bronze is Bremont’s proprietary metal blend that sets itself apart from traditional bronze with its comparatively slower oxidation process, making it significantly less susceptible to tarnishing, creating a rich, even patina. It is also more scratch resistant than regular bronze.

This watch features a cushion-shaped case design with three windows which display the hour, minute and seconds through crisp, linear apertures in the montre à guichet style. A compass-inspired sweeping seconds hand overlays the central Wayfinder logo, reinforcing the watch’s connection to navigation and exploration.

Jumping Hour Complication

Bremont’s exclusive BC634AH Jumping Hour calibre movement powers both of the new Terra Nova Jumping Hour releases. This movement features a jumping hour complication, which means the hour is displayed in a window and instantly advances to the next hour every 60 minutes rather than moving gradually. It is an automatic movement known for its accuracy and ability to withstand rigorous daily use. This rare complication displays the minutes, seconds, and hours  through linear apertures on the bronze TN38 model. The aperture on the steel TN40 version flows from left to right, enhancing balance and readability.

Similarities & Differences

One of the most intriguing aspects of this Bremont release is that while both watches are members of the Terra Nova collection and have a rarely seen jumping hour complication, each model has its own distinct look instead of just mimicking the design language with different materials and color options. The TN38 has a smaller, unconventional, closed case design that stands out with its bold implementation of the Cupro-Aluminum bronze while the TN40 model has a slightly larger dial along with a more traditional, understated style.

Both of these watches come with butterfly clasped bracelets and are available in leather strap options as well. The TN38 bronze model has a brown leather quick-release strap option with cream-box stitching while the TN40 steel version comes in a black gradient quick-release leather strap.

The TN38 is rated at 30m of water resistance compared to the TN40, which is rated for up to 100m of water resistance. The TN40, with its 40.5mm case diameter, is slightly larger than the 38mm TN38. Aside from its larger dial, the case design of the TN40 makes it somewhat easier to read. The TN38 model is limited edition while the TN40 is not, making the bronze version an enticing choice for collectors.

Conclusion

These are both exceptional timepieces that cater to different tastes and preferences. The TN38, with its bronze case and warm, vintage aesthetic, is ideal for those who want to stand out and appreciate the evolving character of a watch. In contrast, the TN40, with its sleek stainless steel casing and lacquered black dial, is suited for those who prefer a more modern, sophisticated look. Regardless of your choice, Bremont’s attention to detail and quality craftsmanship ensure that you will own a timepiece that is both stylish and functional.
