The Seiko ProSpex 1968 Diver’s Re-creation released this year has won the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) prize for the Sport Watch category. Winning this prize in the watch world is generally considered to be the equivalent of receiving an academy award in the movie industry.
The ProSpex, designated SLA025, is a faithful recreation of Seiko’s first hi-beat dive watch and is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide. It won over a stiff field of finalists from Fabergé, Montblanc, TAG Heuer, Ulysse Nardin and Zenith.
The SLA025 has a 44mm case rated at 300m and is powered by the hi-beat caliber 8L55 movement operating at 36000 vibrations per hour.
