Alexander Shorokhoff Celebrates 25 Years
We just helped Alexander Shorokhoff celebrate 25 years in business last night in the Hadid Pavilion in Weil an Rhein, Germany, just across the border from Basel. It was a terrific event with about 100 in attendance, including dealers, distributors and watch press, in addition to the Shorokhoff team and family. We met with folks from Russia, Slovakia, Germany, Mexico, Djibouti, and more, indicating the truly international nature of this niche brand. All were enthusiastic supporters of the brand and of course, Alexander himself, who is a highly creative, likeable, proud yet humble man.
This post gives you the flavor of the creative new collection that Alexander presented at his (off)Baselworld event. Check our website for technical details which will be included when these models are listed there.
Tourbillon Collection
The Baselworld 2017 collections include a milestone range, Alexander’s new tourbillon collection, with case variants in rose gold, DLC finish and stainless steel. The manually wound tourbillon movements are from Concepto, the prestigious Swiss manufacture. Exhibition case backs reveal the characteristic highly engraved Shorokhoff movements. Prices are surprisingly affordable. Call for more information if you are interested in obtaining one.
Tourbillon Classic
The Classic range come with black or white mother of pearl dials. MSRP: with 18k gold bezel $27,600, with black PVD case $24,100, with stainless steel case $22,800. Each version is limited to 5 pieces.
Three Face Tourbillon
The hand enameled dial of the this piece represents three abstract faces. MSRP: $22,800 with steel case; $42,200 with 18k gold case.
Tomorrow Tourbillon
This beautiful tourbillon is limited to just 5 pieces. MSRP: $22,800 with steel case; $42,200 with18k gold case.
“Crossing” Jump Hour Collection
Shorokhoff also introduced a new collection incorporating jump hour complications, with jumping hour set at noon, minutes on the offset main dial, and seconds in a subdial. They feature vintage automatic movements with beautifully engraved rotors. The collection is called “Crossing,” obviously referencing the cross-hatch dial motif. All are stunning, and limited. Which do you like? I’m partial to green, and the bottom piece with the green subdial has a gorgeous green strap, which unfortunately I did not catch with my hurried photography. MSRP: $4,600 with stainless steel case; $15,500 with 18k gold case. Limited edition of just 25 pieces each dial color.
Kandy Collection
A new series of Shorokhoff watches with square, layered cases is dubbed the “Kandy” collection. Kandy is Alexander Shorokhoff’s tribute to the Russian abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky. The dials feature alternating guilloche squares which really set these pieces apart, nicely echoing the overall case shape. I’m told the black version incorporates 18k gold wire in the dial markers. MSRP: $3,100 with steel case; $3,450 with black PVD case.
Classic Collection
Shorokoff releases three vintage style pieces in his Classic collection. Four dial colors are available, burgundy (shown), green, blue and black. Movements are automatic. MSRP: $1,500.
